Brynli Francom Brent Taylor, age 39; an honored and respected man to North Ogden and the whole state of Utah. Brent Taylor is a major in the National Guard, the well-respected mayor of North Ogden, husband of Jennie Taylor, and father of 7 kids (Megan, 13; Lincoln, 11; Alex, 9; Jacob, 7; Ellie, 5; Jonathon, 2; Caroline, 11 months.) January 2018, Brent Taylor was asked to leave (the National Guard) to Afghanistan to help train the Afghan army commando battalion. He said that he wanted to serve his country, “whenever and however I can”, and so that’s what he did. On Saturday, November 3, 2018, Brent Taylor was shot and killed by Afghan. Immediately after he had been shot, the Afghan army shot the shooter. Major Adbul Rahtman Rahmani, Special Mission Wing Pilot, From Afghanistan sent a letter to Jennie Taylor, the wife of Brent Taylor, reporting of his death. This is what it said: “Dear Mrs. Taylor, I am Major Abdul Rahman Rahmani, an Afghan Army Aviation pilot in the Special Mission Wing, stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan, a few miles away from where your honorable husband was shot yesterday by an evil man. I served alongside your husband, MAJ Brent Taylor. I flew missions with him. He was an inspiring man who loved you all. I remember him saying, "Family is not something. It is everything." You may or may not be aware of some of our cultural differences, but in Afghanistan family is not everything, for many of us, family are treated as property. Here, a woman cannot express herself fully, either inside or outside the house. Here, most families treat children unfairly. Let me admit that, before I met Brent, even I did not think that women and men should be treated equally. Your husband taught me to love my wife Hamida as an equal and treat my children as treasured gifts, to be a better father, to be a better husband, and to be a better man. Mrs. Taylor, Jennie, if I may call you that, I have lost eight members of my own family, including my father, three uncles and two cousins in this devastating war brought on to our nation during last 30 years. I have lost too many friends to mention. I have personally been wounded two times. I still have the scars of this brutal war on my right leg. However, I will continue to still fight this "good fight" in the words of your respectful husband. I am fighting for a great cause, as Brent said, "you fight for not only the safety of Afghans, but the safety of my family back in Utah. It is your fight that keeps us out of fear and out of reach of global terrorism. We [Americans] don't want another 9/11 to happen in the United States. Jennie, please pass my words to your seven children, whom I consider as brothers and sisters to my own five children, Taha, Taiba, Tawab, Aqsa and Wahab. Tell them that their father was a loving, caring and compassionate man whose life was not just meaningful, it was inspirational. I gained a great deal of knowledge from him and I am a better person for having met him. Were he here, I know he would not take any credit for that, but I want you to know it and to hear it from me. I am writing this letter to you about a man whom I considered a close friend, and whom I dearly loved. A leader; one who was the first to volunteer for any tough assignment. Never stop telling them what a great man their father was, he was a true patriot. He died on our soil but he died for the success of freedom and democracy in both of our countries. In his last message that I shared on my Twitter, he awakened not only Americans, but the world to the values of democracy and freedom. I want you all to know that most Afghans feel extreme sorrow and pain over the loss of your husband and father. When you think of our country and his sacrifice, I can't imagine your sorrow or sense of loss, but please don't think that the violent act that took his life is representative of our sentiments towards Americans. On behalf of my family and Brent's friends here in the Special Mission Wing, we pledge to continue to work hard until the end, the day when peace will return to our country and violence and hatred no longer claim the lives of both of our countrymen. I assure you that the one who shot him only represents evil and violence. I pray that God will give you strength, peace and show you his blessings in this time of great sorrow. Please accept my condolence and sympathy. God bless you. In deep sorrow, Maj. Adbul Rahman Rahmani, Special Mission Wing Pilot, from Afghanistan.” Utah is in remembrance of this respectable young man fighting for us.

As we look around, we see that our world is changing every second; but is always changing for the better. We as we get old, the younger generation looks up to us. They want to be like us, so boys will try to dress older and young girls will start wearing makeup. According to the article, Modern Childhood ‘Ends at Age of 12, “They say that girls are made to worry about their appearance and boys are pushed into “macho” behavior at too young an age.” Many of the children are growing up so they can be the ideal person: beautiful, powerful, popular. Others focus on how they must grow up a little bit faster to make someone special to them happy. This is an issue in our society today as we know it. As the hunger of being perfect increase, so does the rates of anxiety and depression. Body Hate at Just 8: Why Are Children Worrying About Their Looks So Early? Says, “A study conducted by Professional Association of Childcare and Early Years (Pacey) in the UK found that a worrying number of children had body confidence issues and were unhappy with their bodies. While 32% of childcare professionals said that these anxieties came from parents, 37% said it came from peer groups and 25% held media images responsible.” Don’t grow up fast because there are going to be so many consequences as the years go on. Make the right choice and stay young while it last. Makayla Wood
A cottage, located in Sèvres, in the region of Île-de-France, is only half an hour away from Paris, and was built by French master chocolate sculptor Jean-Luc Decluzeau. It’s 18 square meters and made entirely out of chocolate. Yep, Even the mugs and books. There is a chocolate flowerbed outside, as well as a white chocolate lake. It took over 1.5 tons of chocolate to construct the property. The first and only chocolate house in the world can accommodate up to four people. And we have some questions: will it melt? Can you eat it? How long will it last? No word yet on whether the cottage will melt, but we can confirm that guests are not allowed to damage or eat the accommodation. The cottage is also only open to guests for two nights: October 5 and 6. October 5 has already sold out. After you check in, check out the chocolate fireplace and look up at the chocolate ceilings. You will also get to attend a chocolate workshop with Jean-Luc Decluzeau, where you will get to make and take home your own mini chocolate house! Dinner and breakfast are also included – served in the cottage's chocolate flower garden. And if that does not say, “Home Sweet Home”, we don’t know what does. By: Jennifer Pendleton Recently, during the night, someone came in a destroyed BIF (Black Island Farms.) From Kutv.com, their title is, “Davis county farm rebuilds 16 acre cornfield maze after tractors plows though it.” From this title we find out that someone used a tractor to plow through corn mazes. BIF is a famous place here in Davis County. Families and friends love to come here to enjoy corn mazes, slides, and other activities. It is devastating to know that people came through the night and destroyed BIF. Policeman are trying to figure out who this mystery person might be. They say, “Dectective Erin Behm with Syracuse police department told to News that they are looking for those responsible for driving the tractor into the slide.” Kutv.com said, “Most of the damage was to the entrance of the corn maze, which shouldn’t impact the customer experience.” Luckily, people can still come and enjoy BIF. Syracuse now has to put more effort into the maze they already but a lot of effort into. They now have to build more corn mazes to help attraction. People can still come and enjoy BIF, even though it might look different. Some rides may be canceled. The farm said they are offering a $500 dollar reward for helpful imformation. Please contact the police or their website if you know anything. We hope we can find whoever did this and get BIF up again! -Kutv.com https://fox13now.com/2018/09/29/corn-maze-in-syracuse-saddened-after-corn-maze-badly-vandalized/
By: Mara Wilkes Technologically speaking, our world has grown tremendously since the early 1900s. With new movements in society and a build-up of brilliant engineers many innovations have helped build a foundation for our future. 3D printing is a machine with a process of "laying down successive layers of material until the object is created," as these layers of material are placed, it begins to form a specific object. 3D printing can be used for many different creations and innovative gadgets. Whether it’s a scale model representing a future building plan, or a flexible tube for heart reconstruction there is much value in the act of using this magnificent machine. To plan out these complicated, and scientific structures a designer uses online resources to develop a blueprint that can be converted into a 3D model within days or weeks. Many different materials can be used in a 3D printing machine but is mainly filled with plastic based components. 3D construction; printing for the future. 3D construction work is a new technological advancement that is making progress quite rapidly. With people constantly working towards innovations, 3D printing has been something kept in mind because of its great use. “Among the pioneers to take the technology to new heights is Austin, Texas-based construction startup ICON. In March 2018, the company unveiled a beautiful 3D printed house – the first to receive a US permit – at the South By Southwest festival. The 650-square-foot home featured a bedroom, a bathroom, a living room, and even a shaded porch.” - stated Dogonews, an online news website. A 650-foot house such as this made within a few days can be greatly beneficial to workers, and the underprivileged alike. That meaning, with a quicker rate of buildings going up many of these 3D printing networks are working towards social goodness. "Social goodness", as said before is the act of using community-based information and serving those in need of basic supplies. Large 3D printers, as they can build usable houses within hours can aid in the fight to end poverty within Cities. With a lower cost without physical workers, more money can go into printing the buildings and supporting the impoverished citizens in nearby areas. "the structure took less than 24 hours to build from the ground up and cost just $10,000! ICON, which believes it can reduce the construction cost to $4,000, has partnered with housing nonprofit New Story to create the world’s first community of 100 “printed” homes for impoverished residents in El Salvador by the latter half of 2019!” Technological advancements such as these have paved a way for a better tomorrow. With social inclusiveness in the more impoverished communities that surround us, our abilities to serve have grown in tremendous ways. Not only are more ideas surfacing for 3D printing, but for science. As more, and more of these machines and creative minds come together we can greatly impact the world in ways we could never imagine. 3D printing has gone from simple designs made with basic plastic fibers, to full houses made with concrete filaments; which has decreased the cost of building homes drastically. Overall, 3D printing is an amazing way to build up our future and create new ideas to impact our communities for the better. https://www.ipwatchdog.com/2017/04/25/3d-printing-consumers-future-ip/id=82533/

As of recent, the new global U.N. report states that over 1.3 billion people on this earth are impoverished, and 663 Million of that number are young children. Poverty is something that impacts each continent, and nation on this earth. The dictionary definition of poverty states; "the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; ". In a simpler sense, this number represents the amount of people in this world that do not have the capability to sustain a healthy home life, because of unfortunate circumstances or lack of funding to provide. It is sickening to know that there are people everywhere suffering, but there are ways to fight against world poverty. Though there are still many communities and families that experience poverty in America, there are also many who are fortunate for all they have. Those who've been given this opportunity might not know where to find the proper humanitarian resources where they can make a difference. Deseret Industries is a thrifting agency that takes donated clothing or assorted materials and resells the useable batch; which surprisingly is only about 10 - 20% of donations; "Most everything is used in some way, either recycled, put on the floor, sent to other countries to help other charities," Yates says. The rest of the unused materials are put up to good use in ways that help with the problem of poverty. Though donating clothing pieces or unused materials seems insignificant it can benefit lower-income economies and people in desperate need of simple, everyday items. 2nd and 3rd world countries are not the only places affected by the bondage of poverty. largely populated areas with higher incomes also have people who are poor, but presence's go unseen. The homeless members in society are the ones that get left to the sides of the roads. A common misconception that is placed on their heads is that; "They deserve to be there." or, "They aren't willing to work." though true in a small percent of situations many of the homeless people you see are victims to mental illness. Without proper care and attention, it is common that they lose the ability to be an overall functional member of society. There are many things that keep people from helping the homeless, whether its fear, or disregard there are other ways to help that will not go beyond one's comfort zone. For example, the "burrito project SLC" is a Salt Lake City run distribution center that takes groups of volunteers, teaches them to make burritos, and takes them to the streets of their local communities to hand out food to the homeless. The number of impoverished people may not decrease quickly but can still be impacted if people try to make a difference. Before participating in any humanitarian projects ask a trusted adult for permission and confirm that you are physically prepared for helping. To help with this number of poverty citizens do not have to go out of their way to sacrifice great deals of time; instead they can take things that they don't use and donate them. Donation is a great way to aid in the fight to end poverty, while also staying simple and available for all those who want to help. "Saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty, advancing economic growth…these are one and the same fight." — Ban Ki-moon, Eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations https://burritoprojectslc.webs.com/ https://kutv.com/news/get-gephardt/good-question-are-my-di-donations-thrown-away http://time.com/5402757/united-nations-global-poverty/ Makayla Wood The remnants of Hurricane Rosa are forecasted to bring heavy rain and the threat of flash flooding to the Southwest United States over the next few days. The tropical storm which had been as strong as a Category 5 hurricane. Suspected landfall is expected in the southwest United States, and is already being reported. Flood watches are in effect across portions of California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah, including the cities of Phoenix, Las Vegas, Flagstaff and Salt Lake City. More than 12 million people are at risk of flooding. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and flooding are all expected in the Beehive State from Monday through Wednesday morning. Southern and central Utah will likely see flooding in slot canyons and normally dry washes. Main stem rivers will likely see rises, according to NWS. There could be debris flows from burn scars, and roadways could see flooding as well, according to the NWS. "Flash flood watch means: prepare. A flash flood warning means get to a safe location ASAP if in an area impacted at threat of debris flows". The Bureau of EMS and Preparedness offered some tips for cleaning up floods, including wearing rubber boot and gloves, as well as goggles to avoid contact with floodwaters, which can be full of bacteria and other damaging material. Depending on what happens after the floods, residents will want to monitor potential mold growth. It will also be important to clean up damp toys and products affected by the floods. Brynli Francom We have all done remarkable things, big or small. Here is the story of Aldi Novel Adilang, a teen who survived the depths of the sea. The Indonesian 19-year-old teen was working on a fishing raft for some extra cash, that any teen dreams of, when some strong winds picked up from the south. It was so strong that the rope that connected the fishing boat to the ocean floor snapped in half, and Aldi couldn’t get back due to the harsh waves that he could surely drown in. He was stuck on this raft in the middle of the ocean. He says that he had communication with another raft for about a week, but after that he was completely alone. Eventually, he floated out to Guam in the 49 days he was stranded, and about 10 boats passed by him without seeing him or misunderstanding him because of the different language. He had a can and would try to bang it loud enough for the boats to hear him, but they would not hear it either. He says that he cried a lot of the time, feeling loss of hope and despair. On the tenth boat that passed by, he remembered his friends telling him to yell “Help” in case he was in any danger. So, he requested the help and finally, his life saver sailed in. The captain kept him in healthy shape, and when they got back to shore, they immediately got this young man to the Japanese Coast Guard and declared that he was “in good condition” after his visit. He is safely back with his family after being stranded in the ocean, 1594 miles away from home. Makayla Wood Arty Animal Prints One of the season's coolest approaches to prints is to make an arty interpretation of some of the most recognizable animal patterns—like color-blocking and abstracting zebra stripes. You can go all in with a patterned one-piece, or ease into it with a discreet accessory. Neon Add-Ons Inspired by the extra-bright palette of Prada's fall 2018 collection, consider accenting your more muted autumn #OOTDs with a splash of neon—a sweater, a bag, or even a sock will make a big impact. This add on draws the eye to your creative pop. Popover Blouses Short-sleeve, popover-style button-downs come with a hint of nostalgia (they feel like something the kids at Rydall High School would wear to their local diner) and comfort (you could just be wearing a pajama top, who is to say?) And they can easily be swapped into your wardrobe for a T-shirt or a flowy blouse, if you want something that feels a little more polished. Color Choices This fall and winter, reds, blues, yellow-greens and purples are on the menu—accented by the occasional orange or brown. The star of the show (otherwise known as the Color of the Year) is Ultra Violet—a bright, eye-catching purple that is certain to turn heads should you be bold enough to wear it in public. Makeup This fall and winter makeup trends come with a pop of color. The famous trend that has made a comeback including the dark lips and bright eyeshadows. Or to take a turn and go the natural route or light makeup. Or take the mysterious route of dark-rimmed eyes. Using the Pink and Purple combo to show the creative side of yourself. www.britannica.com
